B-17 Cargo Ship

I have just come across some interior photos of a cargo B-17. There are no exterior photos. They do not appear to match any of the C-108 photos. There is a large cargo door on the pilot's side of the fuselage. They mounted passenger style seats forward, where they removed the radio room bulkhead. The white ID labeling on the bottom of the photos reads; FAS SHIP 33-10-20-54-7. I believe the 7 denotes the photo number. Does anyone know what the FAS stands for ? Could it be "French Air Service" ? Does anyone have photos of any of the French B-17's, and could this be one of their cargo ships?

No self respecting B-17 enthusiast should ever be without his 3rd edition of "FINAL CUT." On page 48, you will find a picture of B-17 42-102715, N66573. It was purchased by Fairchild Aerial Services,[F.A.S.], in September of 1953. If you look closely, you can see the cargo door built into the pilot's side of the fuselage. The photos I have are dated 1954, F.A.S. Ship. This clears up the mystery, and as soon as I figure out how to use my scanner, I will send the photos to Scott to post
