I am still trying to identify as many as possible of the original aircraft of the 92nd Bomb Group, and I need help (probably in more ways than one)! Here are two details clipped from the background of official photos of the 327th Bomb Squadron B-17Fs 41-24376
Hellzapoppin and
Virgin Sturgeon. One photo was dated August 19, 1942, the other September 8, 1942, but both were almost certainly taken on the earlier date.
This B-17F is the 327th Bomb Squadron’s
Society Gal and in one of the photos you can clearly see an “0” as part of the radio call number on the tail. That leaves only two possibilities:
Society Gal is 41-24400 or 41-24406, but at this point I can’t be sure which. Can anybody help on this?
