I grew up in Costa Mesa, just north of Newport Beach, and I remember one day going down to Newport and seeing the camera crews set up on the beach and watching some of the filming from a distance. I think the Stinson made a fly-by at one point but can't say for sure...it might have been my memory's wishful thinking.
Thanks for posting these.

The floats on an L-1 fuselage at SNA-Mantz in 1958....
(NOTE: TBM N9394H and B-25 N1203 in background...)
Was the float installation used in any other movies (1958-70) ? ....
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSjOUN-Hy5U (the L-1 only appears for a few minutes at the end)
According to the Movie info, the picture "was filmed off the Southern California coast, with some familiar landmarks along Newport Beach and Balboa as background".
Filming Locations Balboa Beach, Newport Beach, California, USA
Filming Dates September 1969
