Charley Varrick runs a crop-dusting business, but is a bank robber on the side, and has just pulled off a job, only to find out the money was the Mafia's. Now he has a mob hit man chasing him.

Charley (Walter Matthau) lands his Stearman crop duster (A75N1 PT-17 s/n 41-8348 N53039) in an auto wrecking yard and engages in a duel between the Stearman, (piloted by Frank Tallman) and a 1967 Imperial Crown driven by a "mob hit man" (played by Joe Don Baker).

They try to ram each other. The Imperial crunches the Stearman's rudder at one point. The duel ends when "Charley" intentionally noses over the Stearman.
