B-17C Project realities

In answering several posts below, any outcome
of a project like this would be more of a hybrid
B-17, and not a pure B-17C.

As Dik alludes to below, the C used a 12V electrical
system. The D switched the B-17 to a 24V system,
and it stayed there.

All B-17 models B through E, if they were still flying in
1943, needed to be re-winged due to fatigue and cracks
in the spars. There were hundreds of other changes
that made the plane more airworthy and combat ready.

Anyone have an R-1820-65 engine, let alone 4?
The R-1820-97 is more available (as it is).

Anyone who would say that a project like this would
be a B-17F/G nose (albeit 18" shorter) and wings with a
scratch-built shark tail modeled off a B-17C/D,
would be accurate.
