Re: B-17B upgrades
This copy is a real find, in my opinion. It documents what was apparent but not verified...that a systematic modification of the earlier B-17Bs was completed to bring them closer to the B-17D standard. Thanks for posting this.
I see by a quick internet search that Duncan Field was part of what later was the San Antonio Air Depot at Kelly Field.

Well, this is pretty sobering. I went to that site and read an article on the Cheyenne Modification Center; it had a photo of some B-17Gs being worked on. I ran the four legible serials through Baugher, and came up with this:
Lest we forget...

Sobering indeed. Love the Flag hanging for all to see. Thanks for sharing this great photo.

Check out this vid at around 10:41 into it. A B-17B without waist blister or flush window.

So, Duane, if you don't mind me asking, can we get the original document reposted? The link is gone.
Thanks.
Thanks.

And that video is interesting...only watched the pertinent part with early view of the B-17B with no waist windows. Interesting, and I think the rest should be interesting also.

Re: B-17B upgrades
Thanks for posting. I have been talking about these mods for years. The most famous is the B-17B Mary Ann and B-17B 38-211. I have a partial list of the airframes that were modified and photos of these airplanes can be found on the AAF Accident report microfilm.
