I found this on ebay, but the seller is gone for a few weeks. Notice the sidewalk around the aircraft and the short fence. Also note the trees planted around this. The back has the inscription "first bomber built by Ford". I imagine as a type and not this particular aircraft. Anyone seen this before? Is this old hat?

Hmm... good find!!

My B-24 reference material is in deep storage but this picture is really interesting to me. On another forum several years ago there was quite a lot of interest in finding pictures/serial number of a Liberator that was displayed somewhere in the general vicinity of Willow Run that was later scrapped. The details are deep in the back of my memory but I'll try to piece more of it together.

A quick glance through Nick Veronico's B-24 section in Hidden Warbirds II does not seem to provide a tie up to his listing of war memorial B-24s, for what it is worth.

Found some pics and a newspaper article, by sheer serendipity. I was actually looking for something else entirely.

Okay, with a serial number, it is in fact one of the B-24s in Nick's book, with an account that mirrors the newspaper article. Excellent accounting in that book about the few and little known memorialized post war B-24s.

This one has been kicking around for a while - should be an posting at ArmyAirforces.com that I did that give the serial number of this B-24M

Aircraft was delivered in 1946 and put on display outside the VFW at Willow Run - sometime in 1950 the aircraft started becoming an eyesore and sold.
