Data Plate Delivery Dates

Post by DryMartini »

Anyone know how to find/where to find the
Air Corps acceptance date for a particular
aircraft serial number?

OK, here is the background on this one:

B-17E 41-2595's record card shows a delivery date of 2-14-42.
However, I have pictures of two other B-17E data plates,
41-2568 and 41-9096, which specify their delivery dates as
4-8-42. So, the reason I was asking was to determine
if 4-8-42 was the contract delivery date, or the actual
airframe delivery date.

Any help appreciated.

The record card for 41-2595 shows "Date Received" of 2-14-42. I think there is an official difference between accepted, delivered, and received, but I don't know what it is. Big help, eh?
