B-29 Tail Gun Canvas

Post by DryMartini »

To make a long story short, a friend and fellow B-17 project lead
sent me an original B-17 tail gun canvas for replication. However,
upon opening the box, I realized it was NOT a B-17 canvas. I have
identified it as a B-29 tail gun canvas (twin .50s, no cannon). He has
little interest in a B-29 project at this time, and has told me to see if
anyone had interest in buying it from him. I will append pictures to
this post tonight. It has the aluminum attachment stiffiners, leather
canvas stiffiners, aluminum zippers, and ALL the aluminum gun collars.

PM me if you have any interest in obtaining this canvas.
I have to say that I've never even seen a B-29 canvas before, not
even on eBay. Dare I say this may be one-of-a-kind?
Is there a stash of them out there? If so, enlighten me, please. :?

Bill,

I have seen one B-29 tail turret cover on ebay. It was the version for airplanes equipped with the 20MM, so the one you've posted is equally rare, I'd say.

If things had turned out differently a couple of years ago I'd be interested.........

I am currently working with 2 B-29 groups. I will tell them about it. Can you e-mail me the price? A couple of years ago, I found a complete, original tail gun sight.
