Cool picture Scott,that sure did a number on the front belly of that bird.The tail wheel being down saved a lot of reskinning down the back but gave bulkhead 3 hell for sure.

In all likelihood, the photo shows OY-DFA at Blackbushe, following a belly landing on 28 November 1945. Captain Emil Damm and his crew could not lower the undercarriage, and circled the airfield for two hours to use up fuel. Aboard were 22 crew and passengers! The Fortress was roaded to Northolt for repairs. OY-DFA was returned to service on 23 May 1946, by which time it had received the name Stig Viking. On 1 April 1948, it was sold to Haerens Flyvertrupper (i.e. Danish Army Air Corps), which used the Fortress for aerial surveillance of Greenland.
