Found this B-17 footage in the Alaska State Archives:

Tankers 17E N9323Z and 18E N9324Z; note they still have their Plexiglass noses rather than the nose cones. Mid-60s maybe?

One of my favorite childhood memories happened while playing first base in a Little League game, so probably 1970-71. I heard the sound of a lot of engines that didn't sound like Cessnas. I looked up and three B-17 fire bombers flew over headed north to fight the fires in Northern Minnesota. Just about forgot where I was.

Any one of us who sat around watching 12 O'Clock High on TV as kids dreamed about B-17s and to have three fly over was an amazing sight.

Beautiful footage. They look just as good as fire bombers as they did as war planes.
