Cute story

Paul from the Urbana restoration stopped by
to see the Rat on Thursday, and he told us
a story that I thought was cute.

He was in the Air Force in the 50's, and was at Holloman
AF base, where they were using B-17s as targets. He was
saying that he once flew a B-17 to San Francisco for a
weekend, and when he landed, the base C.O. came out
to greet them. He told them "That there is one dirty-looking
B-17." He then told them that he flew B-17s in the war, and asked
if they would mind if he put the plane in the hanger until they
returned. Well, when they got back, the plane had been
cleaned up, polished, and looked really nice.
Before they left, the C.O. said, "I felt I owed it to the old girl."
