Interesting info on the plexiglass nose being built up in sections. I came across a couple photos that correspond with the details in the drawings posted by DryMartini. On the left is the “Memphis Belle” (the real deal) and on the right is a late B-17F. Is it me, or do those guns in the chin turret seem much closer together than usual? Another question. Were the plexiglass noses manufactured by sub-contractors or were they built on location at the Boeing, Douglas or Lockheed-Vega factories?

Great pics John.I have been wondering if later production plexiglass for the late F was ever vacked in one piece.That last pic tells me no.Some of the early G models used the long nose glass IE 909 and I think outhouse mouse.I wonder if they were one piece.Anybody got pics of the 2 birds mentioned?
