Thanks very much Scott.The one pic of the post war G models is very interesting.Could that be pics from the set of 12 oclock high at fort rucker Alabama? It sure doesn't look like an active AF base due to the grass height.Wishful thinking on my part I guess but somebody had to of taken pictures during all that goings on.The birds still have both cheek windows which is neat.

Looking at the shot of the postwar Gs, the serial on the closest plane is one of the Boeing built 43-39XXX series, possibly 43-39024 or 074? It also has some nose art, one word ending in S - maybe Bugs? At any rate this looks like right at the time the national insignia had the red bar added in 1947; note the lack of other markings (no "United States Air Force" on the forward fuselage, "USAF" under the port wing, or "BA-XXX" buzz number on the aft fuselage). The plane behind it has a white radar pod in the chin turret position.
