Fate of the last B-17 - 44-85841

I saw these on eBay last week and gave Scott the scoop; unfortunately he got outbid. Not to worry; I saved the auction images... The final B-17G, 44-85841, was written off after a taxiing accident at Dallas-Love Field on November 5, 1945. Looks like it may have nosed up, bending the props on #2 and #3, then fell back down hard, collapsing the tail wheel and buckling the fuselage:











Per Scott, it was scrapped soon afterward.
