Substantial progress is evident on the restoration of B-17G 44-85734 at Tom Reilly Vintage Aircraft. These 1999 views show the bomb-bay and cockpit (upper left), mid-fuselage section including the radio compartment (upper right) and wing sections (lower left). Much work remains to be done, with the reconstruction of the cockpit section now underway. The Boeing modified five-engined test beds, one of which was 44-85734, had their cockpits moved aft several feet to accomodate the large test engines in the nose; thus, much work is required to bring the nose section back to that of a standard B-17G.
