Alternatives to Photobucket?

Post by aerovin2 »

Like many forums, this forum site has lost a great deal of good content with the new Photobucket policy. Many photo links are broken, probably not to be recovered, unfortunately. If anyone has some good suggestions about alternatives, please post away. I know Flickr has a similar image hosting capability but am not familiar with it enough to recommend.

I can heartily recommend Flickr; I've been using it for about five years now and it's pretty simple to use.
On this forum when you post a photo it's best to choose the 800 size.

I confess I don't know. I am hoping some with experience with these photo hosting sites will add knowledge. Since I have a web hosting service for this site, I have my own photos that I use on that server, so it has not been an issue for me. For anyone else who has a hosting service for a website, they can do the same thing.....

I have begun using imgur.com

Once you have an account, you can see all of your images from your profile. You can set images to public or private very easily, and I think that their design its simple and straightforward. Images can be posted here by right-clicking and selecting "Copy image address" then using the image tags in your post to surround the link.

Here is a link to a "post" or series of photos I just uploaded. I have it set to private, but you should be able to see when you have the link. I like this feature, because I can organize images, such as "bulkhead 3" or "STA 1-1C." http://imgur.com/a/0cfD9

And here is a test image post:
