sorry but much of this information is just wrong
I suggest you read Scott's book (s) and find out the true history of 44-85738 as she was never a civilian aircraft.
or maybe just a simple google search:

Re: May 12, 2018 Ribbon Cutting Tulare 85738 "Preston's Prid
Buy Scott's book
Plenty of information of information on this aircraft on reliable web sites
http://search.freefind.com/find.html?si ... y=44-85738
Order from Maxwell her original aircraft card
ask for help when you have done all this.....
then when you find her original information, no matter how much you know it is correct, somebody will come along and tell everybody a different story and you have to start all over again
Cheers,
Dave

I am part of the restoration team which, Greg Stathatos, Shannon Munchow are heading up. It is amazing how many stories we are being told by locals.

She has been hit twice by trucks. One port the other starboard.

It was disappointing to see the interior pics showing the bomber has been stripped clean.

Found it - this was a cut-and paste from Dave Osborne's B-17 Fortress Master Log. There's a PDF of what looks like a draft of it available online. Unfortunately it has a fair number of problems; I go to it for very basic reference and always check other sources. (For my own entertainment I converted it to a Word doc and have been making corrections and additions as I find them.)suzyQ194 wrote:Delivered Louisville 18/5/45; Assigned 509th Comp Gp, as Drone, possibly the last survivor of Operation Crossroads, A-Bombs tests in Pacific; Returned to the USA 1946 for restoration at Tulare, Cal; operated by TWA as NX4600, then as NL before being donated to Iran government and later to France as survey aircraft; sat at Arizona garage 1974; Tulare, Cal. 1988, where damaged by vehicle collision 8/82 in USAF Museum. In the case of 44-85738, some of the info here is mixed with parts of the history of 44-85728 (the TWA/Iran/France stuff).

The problem(s) with Osborne log is until you really get into the history of these ships, you do not see how inaccurate this file is.
It is a good general reference on the surface (or a good starter) but on a accuracy scale, I would only rate it 75% correct.
