B-17E Swamp Ghost recovery

Post by OldBillB17F »

Here are quite a few pictures that I stumbled on from the Swamp Ghost recovery. It's quite sentimental to see that old bird airborne again. I hope to see it someday here in the States.

I just talked to a friend of mine who flew back from Hawaii sitting next to Dave Tallichet last Saturday, 9 Dec 06.

He said that Tallichet told him that "Swamp Ghost" should be loaded and on its way to Long Beach in the next week or so.

He also said that it will probably be going to Pima County Air Museum for the rebuild.

One other thing Tallichet said was, his "Memphis Belle" just might be going to Hawaii under a deal with Aero Trader. From what I was told it would go over there and sell rides, and would not be any part of the museum that's on Ford Island.

Missing, you say.
Hmmmm.
Maybe some local scrap dealers got hold of the containers.
