"Hey Ken,

Those names all ring a bell from the Shaw Airmotive days. Sometimes I wonder where everybody ended up. I worked as fuel driver there from 1974 or so until 1978 when I became a CFI and then continued until late 1980 when I move on. Good to hear from you."

"I grew up at SNA from about 1978-1980. I worked at Shaw Airmotive, Martin Aviation, and Budget Rent A Car. I started out at Shaw Airmotive when the late Sterling Meyer gave me a chance. I remember some good times there with Ray Heyman, Scott Thompson, Steve Hahn, Tony Bartolic, James Nelson, Dave Passanante?, and many others whose names escape me. Where does time go? I later went on to Martin Aviation and worked there until there was the first layoff in the company's history. I understand it is gone now, I wonder what Eddie Martin would have to say about that?"

"Hi,

On your page where you list former employees from Tallmantz, you have my cousin listed as Thomas H Gleason. His name should read, Thomas G Mooney. His middle name is Gleason. Please get this corrected if you can.
Many Thanks,
Richard Flach"

"I enjoyed your site. I found it will researching my family history.

In your biography of Mr. Tallman, he is listed as Frank G. Tallman II. He was actually Frank Gifford Tallman III. His grandfather Frank, Sr. was an employee & finally a board member of DuPont."

"I just finished watching The Great Waldo Pepper and remembered Tallmantz Aviation. I hadn't thought of Mr. Tallman in a long time. The Tallman's were neighbors of ours in the 1950's in Glenview, IL until they moved to California and the start of Franks business with Hollywood. I have fond memories of the Tallman family. I was a very young child and friends with his children. We still have a few pictures of all of us and a couple of Mr. Tallmans planes that he kept at the Palwaukee Airport, now Chicago Executive Airport, from the 50's. My father was a big fan, and back then, a friend of Mr. Tallman. We always would go see any movie Mr. Tallman was a part of. I hope his children and families are doing well."

"Hi, I stumbled upon this site while searching for information and photos of my great-uncle Garland Lincoln. I remember meeting and visiting with him at our Lincoln family reunions and listening to his stories about working with Howard Hughes and other Movie moguls. Now, I'm a published author and would like to know more about his Aviation work and am interested in meeting anyone who might be able to point me in that direction.

My direct email address is PetesDragon67@hotmail.com

Can anyone help me? I've searched the net with not much in results, however I did find a French site that mentions him a lot, but I don't speak French.

My grandmother was Garlands sister...and all of his siblings have now passed on. But I'm also interested in knowing more about his life in the San Fernando Valley. While researching for a book I recently published about Glendale, Ca., and the private airstrip of Leslie Brand, I came across some bits and pieces about Garland Lincoln and his wife Pauline, who was a "wing walker" with her husband. I've heard family stories about how he trained his sisters to walk the wings of bi-planes for air shows at Van Nuys airport and those in Burbank, Glendale and Riverside, too. Are these stories correct?

Thanks in advance,

Michael"

"Heart felt thanks and appreciation for all the kind comments and wonderful memories about my step-dad, Tom Mooney. My Mom, Gloria (Toni) married Tom shortly after he retired from the Marine Corps in 1968. Tom met my Mom during his last active duty assignment in Philadelphia. After retiring they loaded up the truck and moved to HB (California). Shortly thereafter he began working for Tallmantz Aviation. During that time he of course flew the movies, did Bah-Bah Blacksheep, and a variety of other things which he considered less enjoyable. Those things included the NCR runs, ferrying the Stearman, and boring errands in a variey planes including the Baron. I recall visiting he and my Mom while on leave and accompanying Tom on a couple of his NCR runs where he'd allow me to fly the Baron when the conditions were right. We all miss Tom very much and were devistated when he was killed while flying for Antilles Air Boats in the Virgin Islands. In what seems like just a few days thereafter, Frank Tallman was killed. Their losses were devistating not only to family and friends, but to military and civil aviation."

"Hello,
Stumbled accross this site doing research for a model. I used to work at Chino for Tony Corbo and later for Bill Byles. Heard a lot about the aircraft and the men. Now I feel even better informed. Thanks a lot."
